I am My Mother’s Daughter - and Shadow

Sep 25, 2023

This past summer, I had the absolute pleasure of working out with my incredible Mom.

As we both hit the mat one beautiful morning, it dawned on me that I am not just my mother’s daughter but also her shadow, following in her footsteps of health and wellness.

My Mom has always been active and health-conscious. She knew what superfoods and nutraceuticals were before they became ‘all the rage’ and has joined me over the years on long bike rides, ice-skating adventures, and challenging hikes. Mom was among the first people to complete (and crush) The Well Stretched Life program, and I couldn't be more proud of her commitment and progress!

Watching her take charge of her well-being as she gracefully moves through her 80s is truly inspiring. Even when setbacks occur (like a recent arthroscopic knee surgery), she takes the higher road physically and spiritually by performing her physical therapy and praying for patience and perseverance. Mom’s body may need some downtime, but her spirit always sours.

Fundamentals and Progression for All Ages

I've learned from working with women from their 40s to 80s that age is just a number. It doesn't define your ability to find relief, refreshment, and restoration in your body and soul through proper training.

Women in menopause and beyond are experiencing the incredible benefits of listening to their bodies, learning the basic biomechanics of movement, and applying simple strategies to correct old patterns causing pain, stiffness, and weakness.

Strength training is imperative for better bones, fewer falls, and longevity. However, without mobility, balance, and flexibility, It's difficult (and risky) to jump right into a lifting session that stresses unprepared joints and tissues. A well-programmed training plan revisits these fitness fundamentals, even if you are a seasoned athlete or active grandmama. The fact is,  we are never too old or too young to start feeling better and living fully.

Join Us on the Journey

I chose to specialize in training women 45+ (and created The Well Stretched Life program) to address this particular issue. Too many people were frustrated, confused, and injured by the mixed signals from social media and outdated methods from well-meaning peers. Because many of us are ‘eager beavers’ with busy schedules, we skip the stretching, ignore the signs our bodies send, and stubbornly stick to what we know. But…the results are not the same, which leaves us even more discouraged.

You see, it isn't just about physical fitness; it's about cultivating a lifestyle that honors your wonderfully made body and elevates your Creator. It's about embracing the joy of movement, nurturing your soul, renewing your mind, and finding hope in every stage of life. Integrating your beliefs about your identity and purpose into your fitness plan changes your actions and transforms your future. We are created to be healthy and whole, so why wouldn’t we start with faith and allow it to seep into every aspect of our lives?

So, whether you're following in the footsteps of an inspiring loved one (like I am) or simply seeking a healthier you, know that you're not alone. I would be thrilled to help you kickstart or uplevel your fitness routine. Let's embark on this journey together!
